Each spring, White-tailed does give birth to one to three fawns in late April through early July. Unlike humans, they cannot drive to the hospital or call their doctor. Often, the does cannot get adequate cover due to being in an urban or suburban environment. This means they have to give birth wherever they may be – in a city park, business yard, or someone’s backyard. None are ideal.
So, why don’t they move to the local woods to live and raise their babies? Some do! Unfortunately, with human expansion steadily destroying their habitat, many have to learn to live among us, thereby causing this problem.
Short’s Fawn Rescue was created to provide compassionate, healing care to these animals - saving lives and relocating them to suitable habitat, so they can have a second chance at life. Won't you join us in this important endeavor? Thank you!
