Hello! My name is Warren Short, founder of Short's Fawn Rescue. Together with my wife, Lynn, we provide life-saving services for displaced, injured and orphaned fawns. Why is this needed? Well, with human expansion steadily destroying wildlife habitat, more and more animals are being injured and killed as a result of being forced to live amongst us. Fawns are being hit by cars, getting entangled in fences, and mauled by dogs, etc. It seems only right that we should help these fawns the best we can.
Short’s Fawn Rescue is a 501 C(3) nonprofit organization serving Lapeer County and the surrounding area. Our work is very rewarding; however, the days are long and exhausting, both physically and emotionally. Not only do we care for the animals, but we provide education and enrichment classes, hold events, meet with people about fawns in need, attend classes to continue our own education, and more. In addition, the cost of formula, feed, medical supplies and veterinary services, as well the equipment required (incubators, recovery tents, quarantine areas, barns, pens, etc.), is very expensive. There is no monetary compensation from state or federal sources for what we do. So, without the kindness and generosity of caring people, the work we do simply would not be possible.
Please take a look around our website and fall in love with fawns - as we have done.
We believe that you, too, will become a friend of the fawns!
Thank you and please consider donating!
Human expansion is steadily destroying animal habitat, causing more and more animals to be displaced, injured and orphaned. Thus, our mission is to provide compassionate, healing care to these animals, saving lives and relocating them to suitable habitat, so they can have a second chance at life.
Our vision is no fawn left to die,
alone AND scared.
Short’s Fawn Rescue is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes while working with the DNR to support the needs of wildlife and provide educational opportunities to the community. We are a nonprofit devoted to supporting fawns and rely on the donations and goodwill of others: "Friends of the Fawns." Please consider becoming a friend of the fawns. Thank you!
Our mission is rooted in compassion and healing for animals adversely affected by human expansion. As animal habitats continue to diminish, the number of displaced, injured, and orphaned animals, including fawns, rises significantly. Our organization aims to provide these creatures with a second chance at life by offering compassionate care and relocating them to suitable habitats.
The work done by Short’s Fawn Rescue would not be possible without the kindness and generosity of people like you. There are several ways you can support our mission and contribute to our life-saving efforts.
